Te Tai o Poutini (West Coast) provides health care services to one of the largest geographical areas in Aotearoa. Based on the West Coast of the South Island, covering an area from Karamea in the North to Haast in the South and services approximately 32,000 people.
The West Coast Region
The West Coast region is characterized by awe-inspiring and ancient panoramas, towering mountains covered in snow, massive glaciers, lush rainforests, grassy tussock lands, serene lakes, winding rivers, swampy wetlands, and beautiful beaches.
The West Coast area located on the western side of the South Island in New Zealand can be described as a slender piece of heaven. It is situated between the Southern Alps, which lie to the east, and the rough, isolated beaches of the West Coast to the west.
